Attaining fame means having a strong talent and perseverance to cope with the challenges that litter the road to success. The music industry in particular is riddled with competition flooding nearly every genre. Making it big means having something fresh to bring to the table. Chance the Rapper is a shining example of what it means to have real talent.
From Humble Beginnings
Chancelor Bennet, better known by his stage name Chance the Rapper, was born on the 16th of April, 1993. He was the oldest of his siblings and grew up in a modest middle-class neighbourhood with his parents and brothers. His father was a prominent public figure in their city and frequently rubbed elbows with many politicians and personalities. Because Chance was the first of his siblings, his father dreamed that Chance would one day take his father’s place in office.
Chance had other plans however, and wanted to pursue a career in the arts. He would constantly volunteer for talent shows and presentations in his school and shower great interest in music. At the Chicago Jones College Prepr High School, he formed a hip-hop duo with one of his close friends. He was originally into soul and jazz, but when he listened to Kanye West’s debut album in 2004, he was instantly hooked.
After having made all the right moves, Bennet was able to get the attention of American rapper Childish Gambino. He was asked by the rapper to join him as the opening act for his 2012 tour, and Chance jumped at the opportunity. From there, he quickly grabbed the attention of many big names in the industry, fuelling what would become a very successful and bright hip-hop career.
Fame and Net Worth
Thanks to the sales he has made from mix tapes and collaborations, and for the patronage of thousands of fans, Chance the Rapper has managed to accumulate a net worth of $1.2 million USD. He hasn’t allowed the fame and fortune to get to his mind though, and still keeps a humble disposition during interviews and talk shows. He pays regular visits to his parents and still participates in family gatherings. Chance the Rapper has a penchant for shoes and street wear fashion and admits that he spends a significant amount of his earnings on shoes, clothes, and other apparel. He also enjoys collecting jewelry which he proudly wears on stage as a symbol of his success.
