Even at 69 years old, legendary Hollywood A-list actor Danny Glover is still able to command top fees and a tremendous amount of respect in an industry that has focused on getting younger and younger.
The 6 foot 3 American actor has been a big part of Hollywood for close to 50 years now, landing some of the most substantial roles in the film while also grabbing a tremendous amount of the profits along the way.
Maybe most well-known for his work in the Lethal Weapon film series (where he partnered with Mel Gibson for four films that spanned 15+ years), Glover has been able to generate a net worth close to $40 million – and it’s rumored that he may be worth even more money than that!
Glover got his early start in show business working the theater circuit in San Francisco, but it wasn’t until he started to take the craft more seriously at the Shelton Actors Laboratory that things really started to take off.
Soon after he graduated from the Actors Laboratory he moved to Los Angeles, going on tour across a variety of theaters there before cofounding the Robey Theater Company – a partnership that went on to make him millions and millions of dollars, but also to have a helping hand in the careers of many of Hollywood’s brightest stars.
Famous for his roles as Mr. Delbert Johnson in The Color Purple as well as Detective Michael Harrigan in Predator 2 (and let’s never forget George Knox in Angels in the Outfield), he parlayed all of his in front of the camera success into a tremendous amount of wealth that allowed him to build businesses and lead influential charitable groups behind the scenes.
Many people are familiar with Glover’s work both in front of and behind the camera as one of the show businesses most influential individuals, but a lot of people are surprised to learn that he was appointed as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, contributed a tremendous amount of his fortune to a number of charities aimed at eliminating poverty in the US as well as abroad, and that he has donated close to $25 million – which would make his “today” fortune close to $65 million instead of “only” $40 million.
Even though the acting roles that Glover has decided to take on have gotten fewer and fewer, he remains active in Hollywood and abroad, continuing to focus on building a career and a life that he can be proud of.
