The rapping and music industry have been satiated with talents from all walks of life. Despite the challenges and competition, Nas has proven his skills allowing him to rise through the ranks and become a successful rapper in his own right. Today, Nas is one of the most popular rap personalities in the industry.
From Humble Beginnings
Born Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones on September 14, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York, Nas was one of two children. Their parents, Olu Dara a musician, and Fannie Anne Jones a postal service worker, made just enough to get their small family by. They moved from their home in Brooklyn to a neighbourhood in Queens when Nas was just a small boy. Their neighbour, Willy Graham, was the reason that caused Nas to develop an interest in hip-hop. In 1985, Nas’ parents divorced. Not long after, Nas decided to drop out of school and pursue a career in music.
Nas started out in the underground music industry under the alias “Nasty Nas”. Thanks to his efforts, he gained the attention of Columbia Records and managed to snag a record deal in 1992. Just 2 years later, Nas released his debut album which became an instant success. Illmatic gained awards from authorities like The Source and got him wide-spread media attention. After the success of his first album, Nas was approached by numerous managers and record producers. Nas later found himself signing on to Aftermath Entertainment, a label owned and operated by Dr. Dre himself. It was during this period that Nas was able to break into the mainstream music scene.
Nas has since produced thousands of records and has made millions of sales all over the globe. All thanks to his hard work, perseverance, and talent, Nas now enjoys living in the lap of luxury with a hefty net worth.
Assets and Net Worth
Of course, we should expect that with such widespread success, Nas should have a handsome net worth by now. It is estimated that Nas has a net worth of about $20 million USD, thanks to his record sales and side projects. When Nas started earning a substantial amount of money, he decided to lay down a big amount to secure a handsome home in LA where he currently resides. Nas is also known for his wild taste in jewelry, constantly sporting expensive designer pieces wherever he goes.
