From Humble Beginnings

Sir James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942 in Liverpool, England. His parents, Mary Patricia a nurse, and James McCartney, a volunteer fire fighter, were of fair income. His father was unable to attend McCartney’s birth as he was on duty as a volunteer. Paul is the oldest of two brothers and was raised in a generally agnostic household.

As a child, McCartney attended Stockton Wood Road Primary School before he moved to Joseph Williams Junior School in Belle Vale. He was a very smart young boy and managed to pass the 11-plus examination with only 3 other students. This granted him admission into the Liverpool Institute. There, he met George Harrison who would soon be one of the 4 men that made up the legendary band, The Beatles. In 1957 at the age of 15, McCartney met Lennon while performing with his own band, The Quarrymen. They quickly developed a liking for each other and decided that they would have a band together. Harrison joined in as well by 1958. They found their last member, Ringo Starr, in 1961, and The Beatles were officially complete.

Thanks to Lennon’s signature style and unique sound, they were able to come up with chart toppers early on in the game. Today, The Beatles have accumulated countless awards, accolades, and titles, and have been inducted into numerous Halls of Fame.
